Ali Fazal, Letitia Wright and Sophie Okonedo in the movie “Death on the Nile.”(Rob Youngson)

Review

The new 2022 adaptation of Death on Nile based on Agatha Christie’s novel is more diverse that the 1978 version.

Casting Indian actor Ali Fazal who also starred in Victoria and Abdul, Guyanese – British actor Letitia Wright who also starred in the black panther, African – British Actor Sophie Okonedo and Isreali Actor of Wonder Woman fame Gal Gadot, has made this version a lot more relevant and inclusive to today’s global audience.

Also a lot of other actors of African and Indian heritage have cast in many other incidental roles rather than just background as has been the case in many films set in exotic locations.

The story is set in Aswan Egypt on cruise boat on the Nile River where the murder mystery takes place. This version is well directed by Kenneth Branagh and is visually compelling that takes you on the journey on the Nile. It is well worth watching on the big as well as the small screen.
