Mani Ratnam become first Tamil Director to join Oscar Committee

Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam is now a member of the prestigious Oscar committee. He has directed movies like Poniyin Selvan, Dil Se, OK Kanmani, Raavan, Guru, Yuva, Mouna Ragam and more. Mani Ratnam is one of the most influential filmmakers in the Indian film industry.

He became the first Tamil director who joined the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. On Wednesday, the Academy sent invitations to 398 other artists and executives from all over the world, including Ram Charan, Karan Johar, Jr NTR and others
