Taliban Cabinet: Appoints Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar as Prime Minister

The decision is made during the Taliban’s senior cabinet meeting held in Kandahar.

Hasht-e Subh – Taliban cabinet has appointed Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar as Prime Minister. Baradar will replace Mullah Hassan Akhund. The decision is made during the Taliban’s senior cabinet meeting held in Kandahar. In addition, Sirajuddin Haqqani who currently leads the Ministry of Interior will be the Deputy Prime Minister in addition to his current post.

According to Al-Bawaba al-Ahram, an Egyptian media, the Kandahar cabinet meeting has led to key changes in Taliban regime.

The Egyptian media added that other senior members of Taliban would remain in their posts until an agreement is made on the appointment of new ministers.
