Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s hit series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, which premiered on Netflix on May 1, is currently receiving rave reviews from audiences, celebrities and critics alike. The team is currently basking in the success of the much-anticipated show on May 11, the ensemble cast all came together to celebrate it at Gigi in Bandra, Mumbai.
During the success bash, renowned filmmaker Sanjay confirmed the second season of the show. During the celebration, Sanjay Leela Bhansali was asked about Heeramandi 2 and he has confirmed the second part. The filmmaker is happy with the positive response the series has received and he wishes to extend the tales of courtesans of Heeramandi.
Set in pre-Independent India, the series focuses on three generations of courtesans living in the Heeramandi neighbourhood of Lahore, now in Pakistan. Once a thriving diamond market, the area was transformed into a hub of prostitution during British colonial rule, where tawaifs or courtesans’ rule as queens, many of them wielding huge power and influence.
